The choir surged back into fine form when they presented a challenging program to a full house of more than 220 people in the Warkworth Town Hall.
It was the choir's first outing with their new Musical Director Ken Leech and from the enthusiasm with which the music was received by the audience we can look forward to more well patronised programs in the future.
The first half was devoted to classical songs from the Renaissance to the the Romantic periods, some pieces masterfully accompanied by John Wells on an excellent electronic concert organ that filled the hall.
The main work in the second half was Vivaldi's glorious Gloria that featured soloists Gina Saunders (soprano) and Jessica Wells (mezzo) with John Wells' brilliant organ accompaniment. But before the big choral work we were treated to hear what each of the featured artists could present solo. John played a Bach arrangement of the first movement of a Vivaldi concerto;Gina displayed the strength of her voice in Mozart's exciting Exsultate, Jubilate and Jessica gave us three delightfully rendered British folk songs arranged by Benjamin Britten.
