The Kowhai Singers proudly present "Illuminare" -bringing light and hope.
In a world that can sometimes feel clouded by confusion and turmoil, the Kowhai Singers are set to bring light and inspiration to the stage with their upcoming concert, Illuminare, on Saturday, November 22 at 7:30pm in the Warkworth Town Hall.
This moving programme explores the journey from darkness into light, offering audiences a musical reflection on hope, faith, and renewal.
Highlights include Stephen Paulus’s “The Road Home,” a poignant reminder that no matter how far we wander, there is always a path that leads us back. Morten Lauridsen’s “Sure on This Shining Night” follows with a message of wonder and comfort amid solitude.
Faith and resilience shine through in Kim André Arnesen’s “Even When He Is Silent,” a stunning eight-part work affirming belief in love, light, and God even in times of silence.
The concert culminates in Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminare” — a five-movement masterpiece for SATB chorus and chamber orchestra. Drawing on sacred Latin, Greek, and English texts, Hagenberg’s music traces a journey through beauty, darkness, and renewal as light gradually returns to restore hope and peace.
Audiences will also be treated to the artistry of Dr John Wells, a distinguished local musician, accompanying on grand piano, joined by an 11-piece chamber orchestra.
Tickets are $25 in advance from www.kowhasingers.org.nz or Briar Rose Flowers, and $30 (cash only) at the door.
